Sabah para athletes rule at Bukit Jalil
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah para athletes were crowned champions in the National Para Athletics Championship held at the Bukit Jalil Mini Stadium from June 8-9.

They captured the overall title in convincing style, winning a total of 43 golds, 14 silvers and six bronzes to top the medal standing, well ahead of second placed Sarawak’s 28 golds, 20 silvers and 17 bronzes.

Selangor placed third with 12 golds, 10 silvers and seven bronzes.

Sixteen athletes - Bartholomew Marius, Shieley Jungin, Ivan Jovic Suan, Shamli Waidi, Elissieball Jonal, Mohd Nizamuddin  Matahir, Mukhriz Ameer Izzuddin Abdul Rauf, Heronlee Wong, Adeleelin Martin, Sabaruding Bacho, Doriah Poulus, Samri Butak, Kartini Nordin, Hazmi Bistani, Elvisius John and Mohammad Hanif Burhanuddin Mohammad - took home two gold medals each.

The other golds came from Nazwan Mohd Sharif, Victer Ben Salleh @ Bindik, Chairmain Sikajat, Mohd Razip Neh, Jericho Hedryld Harry, Jovita Joseph, Jacklon Ganding, Frederichi Asri, Muhammad Military Lorin, Adriansah Bagudan and Muhammad Azman Jasman.

The silvers were delivered by Mohd Khairi Military Lorin, Jericho Hedryld Harry, Frederichi Asri, Jovita Joseph, Azim Sambilang, Mathathir Ejin Dinting Nuranati Shafikah Johnny, Jacklon Ganding,Nuranati Shafikah Johnny, Shazaidie Sahmaryadi, Adriansah Bagudan, Sylvester Maikun and two from Mohd Aidil Capla.

Stenley Roy Ranius, Mathathir Ejin Dinting, Sylvester Maikun, Rudy Benjamin, Shazaidie Shah Maryadi and Nazwan Mohd Sharif returned with bronzes.

The state contingent was represented by 43 athletes led by team manager Misfat Matherin and Sabah Sports Council officer Marcel Jubin.

Lim Chee Hiong, Paul Kenneth Tay, Tony Sawan, Josephen Maria Job and Lisa Felecia Medin accounted for the accompanying coaches.
