Kota Kinabalu: A grass-cutter was killed by a fallen tree while working near a school in Tebobon, here, on Monday.
The 35-year-old was clearing grass when the tree fell and crushed him around 9am.
According to Lintas Fire Station Chief Agustavia Joe Guasi, they received a call about the incident around 9.08am and deployed a team to the scene.
“The victim was crushed under the tree. Our men had to chop off the branches before moving to the bigger trunk to get the victim out,” she said in a statement.
She said medical officials at the scene pronounced the victim dead.
The body was handed over to police for further action, said Agustavia.
