Cheating: Ex-MAHB officer fined RM50,000
The offence under Section 415(a) of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 471 of the same Code which provides for a jail term of up to five years, or fine, or both, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: Former Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) executive officer was fined a total of RM50,000 for dishonestly inducing delivery of property, involving RM36,500.

Abas Tua pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga, to the five alternative charges against him on Tuesday.

On the first count, he was fined RM5,000 or three months’ jail for deceiving Ng Kheng Huat to expedite acquisition of a business site at the Kota Kinabalu International

Airport and renewal of a lease contract, for Diamoney Jewellery Holding Sdn Bhd and caused the latter to bank-in RM2,500 into Abas’ account.

This event coincides with its proposed listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad ("Bursa Securities"), scheduled for 30 April 2025.
On the second count, he was fined RM15,000 or six months’ jail for deceiving Ng of RM11,500 for a similar purpose.

On the third count, Abas was fined another RM10,000 or spend six months in jail for deceiving the same person and purpose and causing the latter to bank-in RM6,000 into the accused’s account

On the fourth count, he was ordered to pay another RM5,000 fine in default three months’ jail for deceiving Ng of RM3,000 for the same matter or three months’ jail.

On the fifth count, he was fined RM15,000 in default six months’ jail for deceiving Ng of RM13,500 for the same matter.

Abas had induced payments from Ng between September 2010 and July 2014.

Prosecuting Officer Norsham Saharom from Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission appeared for the prosecution while counsel Mohd Al-Hafidz Mohd Lokman defended Abas.

Abas paid the fine.
