Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (KKCCCI) dragon boat team won four championship and one runners-up titles at the 9th FCAS International Dragon Boat race at Likas Bay.
KKCCCI won the FCAS trophy (800m) mixed team local, FCAS Trophy (800m) men’s team, President Hua Zhong Trophy (800m) mixed team, Kinabalu Dragon Trophy (200m) women, and runners-up in FCAS trophy (800m) mixed team.
Earlier this month, KKCCCI Dragon boat team won two championship titles (Open Team and Pure Chinese Team) and runners-up for mixed team at the 37th Tawau Hua Lian Dragon Boat Race.
KKCCCI President Datuk Michael Lui congratulated the team led by Nicholas Tan, who had trained hard for the race.
Michael said the KKCCCI team demonstrated the “one boat one heart” team work fighting spirit.
It said: “KKCCCI is committed to preserving and promoting Chinese culture.
We formed the team in 2014 to participate in the dragon boat race so as to encourage Chinese youths to embrace our culture. We bought a boat this year for training purpose.”
