PENAMPANG: A foreigner was arrested for alleged possession of 57.45g of suspected methamphetamine in Putatan on Thursday.
Penampang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division detained the 24-year-old man in a village at 2pm.
District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said 11 transparent plastic packets containing clear crystal chunks suspected to be methamphetamine were seized.
“The drugs are estimated to be worth RM6,320. The remanded suspect was also found to be positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine after an initial urine test.
“The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) and 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty on conviction,” he said in a statement, Friday.
Sammy warned against drug involvement, calling the public to become police’s eyes and ears in the war against drugs.
