‘Be always ready to donate blood to save lives’ call

TAMPARULI: Head of StarSabah Tamparuli Division, John Jinitoh, said everyone eligible should always be ready to donate blood during donation campaigns to save lives.

“At the same time, they will also undergo self-health check for high blood pressure, diabetes and so on.

“Blood donation is a health screening process, so there is no need to fear or worry because it is handled by qualified officials.

“It is said that one in seven people who enter the hospital need blood. One litre of blood can save up to three lives. Adults aged between 17 and 110 can donate about one litre of blood.

“The most common donation is every 56 days, or every two months,” he said.

At the end of the event, the organisers managed to collect 75 pints of blood.

In KUNAK, 49 pints were collected during a donation programme organised by the Kunak District Police Headquarters (IPD) in collaboration with the District Hospital in conjunction with the 217th Police Day, recently.

Kunak IPD Management Head ASP Reduan Rahman, who also represented the District Police Chief, said among the donors were Kunak IPD officers and personnel, soldiers, auxiliary policemen, Rela members and public members.

“The programme is also part of the police’s social responsibility to help the blood bank of Kunak Hospital so that it is always sufficient, especially in the event of emergency.

“Donating blood is a noble practice because the donated blood can help save the life of someone who needs it,” he said.

The programme is also in line with the concept of “Police and Community Is Never Separated”.

Also present was Dr Andi Raup Nur Andi Rahim, who represented the Kunak Hospital Director. A total of 130 people attended the programme.
