PETALING JAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has paid RM1.75 million for the “FFF 1” vehicle registration number.
Transport minister Loke Siew Fook presented the licence plate to Sultan Ibrahim during an audience with the king at Istana Negara.
In a Facebook post, Sultan Ibrahim expressed hope that the proceeds from the bid would be used by the federal government to help the people.
Bidding for the “FFF” vehicle registration numbers took place from May 11 to 15.
Loke previously said that the bidding aimed to generate additional funds for initiatives such as the distribution of free helmets, Perkeso top-up contributions for 40,000 taxi drivers, rental cars, and school buses, and the sponsorship of public service vehicles and B2 licences for the B40 community.
Sultan Ibrahim, known for his passion for classic and collectible automobiles, is no stranger to the purchase of unique vehicle registration numbers.
He acquired the “FF 1” number plate in June last year for RM1.75 million and the “GOLD 1” number plate in February this year for RM1.5 million.
