Kota Kinabalu: Sabah has potential to become the second largest producer of pepper in Malaysia after Sarawak, said the Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Datuk Chan Foong Hin.
He said Sabah's terrain is similar to Sarawak's, making it highly suitable for pepper plants, which thrive in hilly areas with good drainage systems.

"The strategic position of Sabah as a main route for national tourists ensures that pepper from Sabah is a commodity that residents should focus on," Chan said.
He said this after closing the Pepper Production Technology Course Series 8 organised by the Malaysian Pepper Board, here, today.
