Kota Kinabalu: The Dewan Rakyat today observed a minute of silence in memory of Tan Sri Joseph Kurup and Datuk Mutang Tagal.
Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul invited all to stand to pay respect to the late veteran politicians at the beginning of the sitting.
ADVERTISEMENT “[Tan Sri Joseph Kurup] was the former Pensiangan MP and had been a member of the federal administration in several ministries,” Johari said.
“He is the father of the present Pensiagan YB.”
Tan Sri Joseph Kurup was the founder of Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), former Deputy Chief Minister, and held several important positions including Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
“[Datuk Mutang Tagal] was a commited leader in reforming the Malaysian Parliament institution and was very concerned about the welfare of the Malaysian people,” said the Speaker.

He hoped their family members continue to persevere in facing this loss.
