Kota Kinabalu: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) is confident that the GRS-PH State Government will retain power in the upcoming 17th State Election.
PGRS deputy divisional heads from 74 divisions in Sabah and Labuan, during a meeting at the party’s headquarters in Alam Mesra, said the GRS-PH State Government has performed well under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also PGRS President cum GRS Chairman.
Spokesman for the deputy divisional heads, George Teo, who is Kiulu deputy divisional head, said PGRS is well accepted by the majority of the people since Hajiji took over the leadership more than a year ago.
“We, as deputy divisional heads, are confident that the momentum would continue till the next State election. We will work hard to ensure PGRS and its partners, including PH, continue to govern the State with a bigger majority.
“The opposition has nothing to offer other than spreading lies and falsehoods. While they were ruling the State, they did nothing for Sabah and the people but after losing power, they seemed to have become smarter overnight by twisting every issue.
“They even mocked the Sabah Maju Jaya slogan of the Hajiji administration. They should be shameful for such behaviour,” said Teo.
He said the working relationship among GRS component parties and PH is good and this augurs well for the State and people.
“Hajiji has been working tirelessly to strengthen the State’s economy by bringing in foreign investors as well as creating opportunities for the people.
He is also going all out to ensure that unresolved issues under the MA63 are fulfilled by the Federal Government, including the 40 per cent revenue.”
Teo said Hajiji had bought about political stability which is an important factor for foreign investors to decide whether to invest hundred millions of ringgit or even billions in Sabah.
“The opposition is desperate to tarnish the image of the GRS-PH State Government by brainwashing the people with falsehoods through social media.
The people should not believe the poisons dished out by the opposition as they have only one objection, that is to bring down the present government,” he said.
Teo said the meeting also discussed issues of the grassroots leadership and would present it to the party leadership for deliberation so that the problems faced would be solved soon.
Among those who attended the meeting were Siriman Basir (PGRS Ranau deputy chief), Datuk Abdul Muis Picho (Tg Batu), Datuk Musbah Jamli (Tempasuk), Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman (Sukau), Datin Aminah Ambrose (Moyog) and Prof Dr Sulaiman Tahajuddin (Sulabayan).
The meeting was chaired by PGRS Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Stephen Jimbangan.
