Syabu: 48-year-old woman ordered to enter defence
The charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries the death sentence or imprisonment for life and whipping not less than 15 strokes if not sentenced to death, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 48-year-old woman who was charged with trafficking 122.97gm of syabu was ordered to enter her defence.

High Court Judge Datuk Ismail Brahim made the order against Jainah Tatoh and set Aug 14-15 for her defence.

Jainah, a trader, was accused of committing the offence on June 14, 2022, at 11.45am, in the parking lots in front of Sri Rugading Hall, Taman Sri Rugading, Tuaran.

The prosecution had called six witnesses during the prosecution’s stage.

In another case, a 43-year-old man was fined RM25 or three days jail for verbally threatening his wife with the intention of disturbing the peace.

Noorizan Jalil pleaded guilty to committing the offence towards his 25-year-old wife, on June 27 at 3.30pm in a house at Kg Tebobon, Manggatal.

He was charged under Section 8(1)(e) of the Minor Offences Ordinance, which provides for a RM25 fine, on conviction.

The court was informed by the prosecution that the incident occurred because Noorizan was upset with his wife for reprimanding him for using their son’s mobile phone to call someone about whom she was unsure.
