The seminar was attended by stakeholders from the industrial and commercial sectors.
Under this programme, those eligible are encouraged to apply for EACG which will enable them to conduct energy audit activities at their installations, aimed at helping to save energy and reduce the burden of utility costs.
During the event, ECoS conducted a briefing on the implementation of the Efficient Management of Electrical Energy Regulations 2024 (EMEER 2024). This is a significant step towards enhancing energy efficiency initiatives across the State.
The EMEER 2024 regulation, according to Ts. Mohammad Nizamuddin Zainal Abidin who is Assistant Director of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Unit, is part of a broader regulatory framework established by ECoS, which includes the application, provision for Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) competency, qualification and roles, general penalty and obligations of licensees and private installations to provide information to ECoS.
Under the new regulations, all existing electricity licensees, contractors, competent persons and related equipment registrations will be regulated under ECoS which will ensure that licences and certificates remain valid and enforceable under the new enactments.
For further details and facilitation on compliance and registration, stakeholders are encouraged to use the ECoS Online System at
