KENINGAU: Rakan Taman, a volunteer-based organisation in the People’s Housing Project (PPR), was launched at PPR Anggerik here Wednesday.

Liawan Assemblyman Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman, who officiated the launch, said the Rakan Taman programme is to encourage the community to volunteer for preserving and maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of the park landscape in their neighbourhood.

He said this is in line with the aspirations of the National Landscape Department (JLN) which encourages Local Authorities (PBT) to cooperate with Rakan Taman to ensure that the neighbourhood is always clean and beautiful through an organised and functional landscape to ensure sustainable preservation of the open space.

“Rakan Taman’s role is to assist the District Council in looking after, preserving and maintaining open spaces through voluntary donations of energy, input and equipment by the local community, especially residents within the PPR.
