Kota Kinabalu: Last Sunday Tambalang tracks witnessed the resplendent Ben capturing the Singapore Pools Challenge trophy with an awesome display of strength and power.
The rest of the quality Class A pack comprising Keepitup, Pop, Super Come and co were obliterated and returned to ground zero.
This Saturday’s races showcase contingents of proud horse owners and their local-bred horses fighting for pride and honour.
Household names like A.B. Stable, T.P. Stable, Kedamaian Stable and Lamjan Stable are avid and long-time supporters of racing and may their best horses triumph.
Race 4 is the afternoon’s highlight with horses from these stables represented. Midnight Lady, Country Song, Impian Dua and Malkita should emerge.
At his last Kranji outing on June 9 over 1,200m, Sabah Win started hesitantly but an energetic burst in the later stages returned a deserved third place.
Heading into this Sunday Race 4 over 1,400m, well-rested Sabah Win can excel with Big Day and Prodigal having major say in the race.
Race 6 over 1,600m looks feral, with Boss Heng Heng the only runner showing some consistency in his past five runs. Kinabalu Light is entered and can aim for a placing realistically.
Race 5 sees the second face-off installment between highly-rated foes Golden Monkey and Ghalib.
At their last encounter on 16 June, Ghalib led from start and remained stoic against a late charging Golden Monkey. So Hi Class can gatecrash.
Local and overseas races are telecast “live” at Tambalang Racecourse, Tanjung Aru and Keningau Off-Course centres. For this weekend race schedules and timings, please visit Royal Sabah Turf Club (RSTC) website or Facebook page.
