Sikh temple official insists ‘heritage’ status misunderstood
Ram said heritage is a show of respect and recognition on the value of Sikhs in the history of North Borneo rather than any ill intentions as portrayed by some.
Kota Kinabalu: Kinabalu Singh Sabha Association (KSSA) President Datuk Ram Singh said whatever transpired at last Sunday’s EGM over the 100-year-old temple’s heritage status should have remained among the members and not aired in public or media.

He was responding to “Heritage Status Plan Is Aborted” which appeared in the Daily Express on July 6 quoting sources on what five of the members who were against the move had voiced at the meeting.

Ram insisted in a statement that those who opposed the status had the wrong idea of heritage.

He claimed they misunderstood the whole intention of the 2017 Enactment, “fearful that the Government is going to take over the Gurdwara but this is unfounded.”
