LABUAN: Labuan’s limping hotel industry has hit a “windfall” for the short-term with almost 100 per cent occupancy due to the influx of tens of hundreds of workers.
A leading hotelier, Chai Tze Moh, whose company runs three major hotels with over 500 rooms, said:
“We are seeing some sunshine finally, thanks to Petronas Methanol Labuan (PML) plant shutdown for maintenance.
“The huge workforce needed has resulted in the hotel industry getting a boost, even homestays, budget hotels and some vacant houses have been snapped up.”
