“Concrete governance planning can promote transparency, accountability, inclusiveness and effectiveness. All this contributes to the existence of an administration that is civil, democratic and able to function well.
“Good governance does not come about by itself or by chance, but it is the result of earnest efforts in realising the plan,” he said.
He said this while speaking in conjunction with the Board of Directors Board Members’ Will Submission Ceremony and the Submission of the Auditor General’s Certificate for the Financial Statements of Sabah State Baitulmal Corporation (PBNS) Year 2022.
Also present was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PBNS, Ismail Mohd Adnan and Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS) Chairman Datuk Yahya Hussin.

Meanwhile, Mohd Arifin stated PBNS is one of the Islamic agencies that look after the trust fund of Sedekah, Fidyah, Non-Shariah Compliant Money, Inheritance, Luqatah Property and Sharia Criminal Fines in Sabah.
This prompted him to remind PBNS to always comply with laws and regulations in carrying out its functions and roles.

He said PBNS should identify factors or elements that do not encourage efficiency and effectiveness, especially in relation to accounting and then take into account the opinions and advice of the national audit.
“In addition, PBNS needs to explore opportunities that can be forged together with other agencies whether federal, state and the corporate sector in performing its services in the state.
“PBNS should also improve the quality of its services in administering public funds received by further increasing efforts and measures to increase collection in addition to expanding the distribution structure,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail in his speech said that every success achieved by PBNS is the result of the continuous cooperation of all parties to see the corporation move forward like other Baitulmal institutions in Malaysia.
“I remind all PBNS officers to continue to make continuous efforts for us to jointly implement the mandate given by the top leadership of PBNS.
“We need to try to increase the collection of PBNS which is able to further expand its distribution structure and will continue to be intensified from time to time.
“Integrity and best management will continue to be strengthened in order to see the benefits of the people in Sabah more guaranteed through the role of PBNS,” he said.
