The team received the champion’s trophy, RM1,000 cash prize, a gold medal and certificates of achievement, said the College Head of Research and Innovation Dr Sirhajwan Idek here.
He said the team comprised teacher Ibrahim Sa’min and three second-year students aged 17, Thiery Christian Thomas, Carl David and Judd Ryan.
“The team produced a burger patty inspired from the cuisines of Nyonya which is a unique subculture from the assimilation of Chinese immigrants and the Malay society dating back centuries ago.
“This was done to introduce Western food with local cultural elements that can help to preserve traditional recipes,” he said.

Dr Sirhajwan said the team believed that this idea might be successful since burger is a popular choice of snacks for many Malaysians especially the younger generation.
He said the team was among 18 finalists in the school category of the competition which accepted a maximum number of 500 entries.
