KAPAYAN Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang stressed the urgent need for additional allocation to address the aftermath of the recent devastating flood in Penampang and surrounding areas.
With over 3,000 houses submerged and significant damage in Donggongon, Jannie stressed the need for swift and effective assistance to support both residents and small businesses in affected areas.
She advocated use of the RM14 million Nadma fund to aid severely affected schools and ensure students can resume studies without delay.
She also called for prompt repairs and maintenance in her constituency, highlighting the need for road repairs, replacement of damaged infrastructure and enhanced drainage systems to mitigate future disasters.
Jannie also stressed the importance of investing in an Early Warning System to enhance disaster preparedness and ensure the safety of residents in the face of climate change challenges.
“Drainage systems, particularly in Taman Hiburan, need to be addressed,” she said.
She queried maintenance of drains along Jalan Lintas and urged more frequent cleaning and upgrades to concrete drains to improve infrastructure resilience.
