LABUAN: Member of Parliament Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman said that he was neither a party rebel nor did anything wrong to be sacked by Parti Peribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and, after discussing with lawyers, don’t see a by-election justified for the Labuan seat.
“My decision to support the Madani government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not not involve party hopping as I remained a member of Bersatu.
As such there is no solid justification for me to vacate an elected seat.”
He said the decision was based on being in a better position to serve Labuan and my supporters from the constituency development funds which Bersatu is unable to provide.
