Kota Kinabalu: Tawau bodybuilder Lee Chee Kiong’s hard work paid off as he stood on stage among the best bodybuilders in Asia at a recent International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) event.
With decades of training and dedication to the sport, the 55-year-old athlete continued to gain international recognition in the IFBB 57th Asian Championships held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from July 5 to 8.

Lee represented Malaysia to compete in the category of 50 years old and above, narrowly missing the medals with a commendable fourth place among the top athletes from across Asia.
“I am thrilled and honoured to have competed in such a prestigious competition. It has been a challenging journey, but the support of my family, friends and coaches has been incredible,” he told Daily Express.
“All the competitions, all the ups and downs, they keep motivating me to persevere in this field.”
In 2023, he won an impressive gold medal in Mr. Borneo’s 85.1kg-and-above category.

In 2022, he carried home a silver trophy from the IFBB Philippines Grand Prix in the 70kg-and-above category as well as a bronze in the muscular physique open category.
