BEAUFORT: Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister Datuk Isnin Aliasnih announced that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has approved a 500-acre development project in Montenior.
The plan includes three main components, namely housing development (200 acres), golf course (200 acres) and government infrastructure (100 acres).
“A village settlement will be created for residents without land, many of whom currently squat along railway tracks
“A well-organised community will be established, with the Land and Survey Department tasked to prepare lots for distribution,” said Isnin.
On the golf course plan, he said it aims to attract wealthy tourists.
He cited examples of golf enthusiasts, particularly from countries like Korea and Japan, who invest significantly in golfing trips.
“This will help boost the local economy through increased tourism and associated spending,” he said.
As for government infrastructure, it will include various public facilities such as a fully residential school, health clinic, police station and fire station.
Isnin said he contacted the Ministry of Education regarding the school project which would improve access to essential services for rural residents.
“This development is timely. Sixty-six years after independence, such projects are crucial for the State’s progress,” said Isnin.
He hopes the Government will implement the project promptly, saying it would significantly advance the district’s development and improving residents’ quality of life.
