Kota Kinabalu: The Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (SPArKS) held its first event of the term, Sounds for the Ocean, a fund raiser to support the arts and coral conservation last Saturday at the Marriott Hotel, here.
Proceeds of the event will be shared with GaiaOne Restoration Project, co-founded by Noortasha Devi, an organisation that started to prevent the degradation of the local reef in Bira, Indonesia.
But it was the rapid global degradation of all reefs that turned a small dream into a global mission to restore our oceans, remove trash, and empower local communities globally.
As a social enterprise, they apply the Ocean Gardener coral restoration techniques to plant nurseries.
