Tuaran: About 300 people attended the book launch of “From Pioneers to Present” at Tamparuli Advent High School Open Hall here on Sunday.
The author, Abednigo Chow, said the book contains the history of the establishment of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) in Sabah (North Borneo).
He said it was the second book he produced after the first book, “Keningau: Heritage and Legacy in the Interior Residency”, published in 2016.
“This book explains the journey of pioneers and missionary efforts that laid the foundation for the establishment of the church in line with the mission and challenges faced during the Japanese occupation.
“Right now, I am actively studying for the publication of the third book titled ‘The history of North Borneo Police Force,’” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan launched the book.Also present were Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew, former Sabah Museum Director Joanna Kitingan, former Senior Assistant Police Commissioner Datuk Clement Jaikul and President of the Malaysian Union Mission Pastor Abel Bana.
The presence of Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan (UNK) 2024 Hyellene Danius, at the invitation of the organisers, enlivened the event.
