Tenom: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) expresses confidence in reclaiming the Melalap State seat, a traditional stronghold, in the upcoming State Election.
This optimism stems from the effective cooperation within the Bersatu-Solidariti (Best) alliance between PBS and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (StarSabah).
PBS Secretary-General Datuk Julita Majungki emphasised the importance of regaining the Melalap seat to strengthen the government’s representation in the Sabah State Assembly.
She highlighted that this victory is crucial for enhancing Sabah’s political stability and ensuring a sustainable, focused State administration.
Julita attributed the potential success to the collaborative efforts within Best and with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) partners, which have positively influenced interior voters.
She noted that StarSabah and Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah represent neighbouring constituencies, adding that candidate selection will be finalised after consultations.

Speaking at the Melalap PBS 39th Annual General Meeting at the Murut Cultural Centre in Pulong, Saturday, Julita said that PBS has active branches in 76 of Melalap’s 99 villages.
The party is set to expand with new branches following a surge in membership, with the Melalap Division receiving 1,135 new applications and establishing nine new branches.
Julita, who is also Assistant State Finance Minister, urged party members to honour PBS’s legacy as a local party championing Sabah’s rights.
She praised the party’s moderate, integrity-driven leadership, noting the absence of criminal misconduct among its leaders.
Emphasising the need for continuity, Julita called for increased efforts in mentoring young leaders to carry forward the political legacy established by founders like Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and other previous leaders.
