Kota Kinabalu: The Federation of Sabah Chinese Women Associations (FSCWA) will hold a health awareness programme on July 20 at the Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TARUMT) Sabah branch, Alamestra.
Organising Chairwoman Datuk Dr Pamela Yong said the programme aligns with the national footsteps of GoCare Malaysia - The HPV Vaccine and Cancer Awareness Campaign and CRSM’s Be-The-One Community Care Movement.
“This health programme will serve to promote preventative care and early disease detection against cervical and breast cancer, two leading causes of death among women in Malaysia,” said Yong.
She said the programme would reach out to the community with support from relevant NGOs and government agencies to raise awareness about available health resources and services.
“We aim to educate the public on pertinent health issues and empower them with the knowledge to make informed decisions for their health and well-being,” she added.
Yong, who is also President of FSCWA, urged more people to participate in this initiative.
She believes that no one should be lackadaisical when it comes to one’s health, especially in times when medical care and bills are becoming more costly.
The programme will feature free health screening services, including the national health screening initiative, BMI checks, bone scans and more.

The programme is organised by FSCWA in collaboration with Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) and TARUMT.
Since March this year, 25 events have been held, benefiting over 8,000 people.
The campaign will continue to be promoted in independent schools, universities, and communities to increase vaccination rates among women from impoverished, vulnerable, and marginalized groups.
