Man’s syabu case transferred to High Court
The charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
Kota Kinabalu: A 23-year-old man charged with trafficking 69.58gm of syabu has his case transferred to the High Court.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie made the order on Mohammad Haiqal Amiluddin’s case following an application by the prosecution for his case to be transferred as the chemist’s report had already been obtained.

Haiqal was accused of committing the offence on May 16, this year, at 7pm, at a unit in University Condo Apartment 2, Jalan Dambai, Manggatal.

His plea would only be recorded in the High Court.

The charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.

In another case, a 22-year-old man was sentenced to three months jail for disposing of stolen property.

Sharul Azul admitted to disposing of a stolen water jet, belonging to the Zeal Cleaning Services company under the care of Zeno Ginduk, on July 15, at 4pm, at the Penampang Police Station’s compound.

The charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both, on conviction.

The fact of case submitted to the court by the prosecution stated that Sharul, a former Zeno worker, had sold the water jet for RM100.

Meanwhile, a woman was fined RM800 or one month jail for engaging in illegal online gambling using a handphone.

Alneyra Tony, 33, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on March 1, this year, at 9.45pm, at the staircase of Block C, Asia City, here.

She was charged under Section 7(2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or jail term of up to six months or both, on conviction.

The court heard from the prosecution that Alneyra was arrested by a police team who acted on a tip of gambling activity in the said area.
