Kota Kinabalu: The Tupai King, a newly registered durian variant in Penang, has captured people's attention with an astonishing claimed price tag, up to RM1,000, in this extended durian season.
A Facebook post by user Buza Biz claimed the Tupai King can reach that price due to its scarcity.

The post includes a video showing a man, believed to be a durian vendor, describing the Tupai King’s features.
“The flesh is yellow with a bit of a greenish tint, and when pressed, we can feel that it is very rich in fat. Its aroma is as intense as Musang King,” he said.
He further explains that the Tupai King has a distinct sticky texture and notable bitterness, making it a unique addition to the variety of durians available.
At the end of the video, he invites netizens to visit Penang to try it out.
