Kota Kinabalu: Four students from Keningau Vocational College had their articles published in the e-magazine of an Indonesian university in conjunction with World Child Day, with one of them winning a prize.
Azzulfa Haryani was awarded the best author prize for her article "Nip it in the Bud" published in STKIP PGRI Pacitan's e-magazine.
Her article discussed the current issue of bullying in schools in the latest June edition of the e-magazine
Azzulfa, a third-year student majoring in early childhood education, highlighted the importance of instilling values and discipline when teaching children.
Velynda Veronica made Keningau Vocational College proud with her article "Tricked and Trapped as Enslaved Accomplices", shedding light on the subject of child labour within the vast human trafficking crime network across the globe.
Nicholas Vicky Voon raised awareness about mental health with his article entitled "Taking the Pressure Off".
“The efforts in combating this must also start in schools to shift society’s mindset towards nurturing a healthier generation that cares about each other’s wellbeing,” he wrote.
Elisha Carmen Erick sympathised with stateless and undocumented children.
“When the children are not in schools, they likely become drawn to unhealthy activities which can be attributed to peer pressure, hunger and absence of adult supervision,” she said in the article entitled "Denied and Deprived, Hence the Cycle Continues".
