STB Chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai in a press conference held on Friday said they are targeting some 1000 participants, reflecting this event’s increasing popularity and recognition.
“The Kiulu Adventure Challenge goes beyond sports — it’s a celebration of sportsmanship, community spirit, and the natural beauty of Kiulu.
“Kiulu is not just rich in culture but also teeming with potential for adventure tourism. Our objective is to showcase community activities centred around tourism and inspire our youth to embrace adventure sports.
“We’re proud to make this event an annual highlight that attracts participants from near and far in our effort to create jobs, boost the local economy, and ignite a passion for adventure among the younger generation,” he said.
He added that apart from putting Kiulu on the adventure sports map, the event will also feature a night market event called “Malam Pesta Kiulu” and traditional games will be held before the main event.
“The aim is to celebrate Kiulu’s cultural heritage while providing entertainment for participants and spectators alike as well as to enrich the participants’ experience with the local community.
“Malam Pesta Kiulu will showcase a blend of glamping-style setups and traditional market ambiance, offering a variety of local street food, beverages, handmade crafts, and live band Performances in addition to traditional games such as Tug of War, coconut bowling, and more.”
