NGOs donate flood aid to 132 families

TAMPARULI: Flood victims in this district from three weeks ago continue to receive attention from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that persistently provide food and beverage assistance to them.
Three NGOs – Tmew Collection Tuaran volunteers, Persatuan Unduk Ngadau Sabah (PUNS) and Sabah Four-Wheel-Drive Association – joined forces to assist 132 flood-affected families in Kampung Sungai Damit and Tanjung who have not fully recovered from the disaster's effects.

The NGOs representative Ellyanti P Nelson said the approach of directly sending food and beverage aid was taken out of sympathy for the hardships experienced by residents after the flood disaster.
"Although the flood has passed, the affected residents' lives have not fully recovered, causing many to struggle to go out and earn a living as they are busy cleaning their homes from flood damage.
"As a measure to reduce their hardship, we are providing them with food and beverage baskets," she said.
She said they would continue their mission of providing donations to needy poor residents. "This effort will not stop, but the recipient groups may vary and not focus solely on flood victims," she said.

Tmew Collection Tuaran volunteer representative Seriah Basir said that the funds collected from public donations were used to purchase food and beverages to be donated to those in need.
