BEAUFORT: The District Council prohibits any hawker from doing business on the sidewalks in town, said its Executive Officer Mohd Ainol Mohd Dun.
This ban aims to keep the town free of sidewalk hawkers as it disrupts pedestrians.

Mohd Ainol said enforcers will patrol the town area to confiscate any goods sold on the sidewalks and to monitor those who violates the rule.
The Council has also identified hawkers selling fruit along the old shops’ sidewalks and lanes.
“The Council has prepared a designated site for these hawkers, particularly those selling fruits, at the car parks in Beaufort Jaya.
“Enforcement authorities will inspect all sidewalk areas and take appropriate action against hawkers who continue to sell fruits on the sidewalks,” he said.
Ainol said the public can purchase fruits from the designated general market traders, to prevent any complaints from these traders.
“We want this town to be clean and beautiful. Beaufort is visited by tourists, and it should be clean,” he said.
