Mengkabong Harbour transformation creates business, jobs for locals

“Addressing the current shallow entry and obstacles at Mengkabong Harbour is a top priority.”
He said the harbour’s accessibility and safety would be improved in the coming year to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.

Organising Chairman Datuk Mohd Pintaz Badar hoped that the government could look into improving the depth of estuary for both fishermen and to boost tourism, especially for yachting.
“Enhancing these aspects will significantly benefit our local community and make Mengkabong Harbour a top destination for maritime activities,” he said.

The event featured activities including guided tours of the harbour, cultural performances, and opportunities to explore the local marine life and scenic landscapes.
Themed “Discover Malaysia by Sea,” this initiative is supported by Tourism Malaysia and the Sabah Government to promote the coastal attractions as a premier destination for maritime tourism.
