Kota Kinabalu: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) Likas Division is committed to ensuring that the management and development of the population in the area managed by Kota Kinabalu City Hall are at the highest level.
Its chief Mohammad Bahrin Abd Karim said their focus in that division is to achieve balance, covering aspects of development and ensuring the sustainability of the landscape governance process and the environment in Likas.

“At the divisional level, we feel responsible to step forward and address the issues and complaints shared with us by friends around Likas. We take note of these, and today we are meeting to establish cooperation with the City Hall,” he said, while attending the courtesy visit of PGRS Likas Division to the City Hall Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah, here, on Friday.
According to Mohammad Bahrin, the purpose of the courtesy visit is also to foster closer cooperation as strategic partners, especially in ensuring that PGRS effectively represents the voice of the people to the City Hall.
“We aim to provide input on residents’ issues, as well as to receive explanations and updates on current developments.

“Furthermore, we hope that this initiative will enable City Hall to handle various current issues effectively, particularly for the residents of Likas,” he added.

Meanwhile, representing City Hall were Deputy Director General (Operations), Robert Lipon; Director of Engineering Department, Saimon Angkak; and Chief of Staff of the Mayor’s Office, Rosie Inus Malakun.
Mohamad Bahrin also raised issues such as the drainage system, particularly flooded car parks during heavy rain, and the presence of a large tree near Kian Kok School in Likas.
He also requested opportunities for trading at night markets and job openings within City Hall.
“We hope that this meeting will enable party leadership to better convey current information to City Hall, and that the relevant parties can provide more efficient feedback on the necessary actions.
“All of this is aimed at further enhancing the welfare of local residents, particularly in Likas, given the rapid urbanisation and population growth, which bring various current issues that need immediate or long-term solutions,” he said.
