SABAH PKR will host the “Himpunan Perdana Rakyat” (People’s Premier Gathering), which will be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is also the party’s president, at the Sabah International Convention Centre here on Aug 4.
Sabah State Leadership Council (MPN) Chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said about 10,000 people are expected to attend various events such as forum sessions and speeches will be held to fill the programme from as early as 8am to 2pm.
“This is one of PKR’s missions to revitalise the party that has been supported by the people of Sabah for 25 years.
“We will gather members, supporters and people who understand and believe in this reform movement. We welcome everyone to attend this programme.
“It is very special that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also PKR president, has committed to be present with the people of Sabah and we will discuss some issues close to the hearts of the people of Sabah,” he said.
Mustapha said a total of 10 speakers consisting of PKR leaders will deliver their respective speeches, among others, on infrastructure problems and hardcore poverty issues in Sabah, in addition to issues involving education and the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
The Deputy Minister of Higher Education said the Prime Minister is also scheduled to deliver his inaugural speech at the programme.
He said Sabah PKR will also invite all party leadership in the Unity Government, including the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), to attend the premier gathering together.
“We open the widest possible space for them to come together and we will discuss related matters so that they can hear our views for themselves,” he said.
