Kota Kinabalu: Some 90 students from SK Pulau Gaya here have been affected by a food poisoning outbreak, according to State Education Director Datuk Raisin Saidin.
The cause of the food poisoning is still under investigation by the health department.
The incident was first detected around noon on Monday (July 21), when teachers reported students experiencing vomiting and other symptoms. Initial reports indicated that more than 20 students were involved, but the number has since risen to about 90.
In response to the outbreak, the school immediately suspended its meal supply programme and advised parents to seek immediate medical attention for their children if they showed any symptoms of food poisoning.
