TAMBUNAN: Some 1,000 people here joined the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) in a ceremony held at the District Community Hall, recently.
They were received by Tambunan Gagasan Rakyat Division Chief Datuk Victor P Paut who said the new members are those who have not been members of any party before and the rest have been members of several parties in Tambunan.
He said the entry of new members into the Tambunan Gagasan Rakyat Division is another important and historic event for the district, especially for the division.
“I appreciate and thank all the new members of Gagasan Rakyat for being able to accept and appreciate the concept and philosophy of the party’s struggle,” he told the media after receiving the party membership application forms.
Congratulating the new members for making the right choice, he said Gagasan Rakyat, which is a party made up of various races, prioritises understanding and unity of all races in Sabah to develop it into a progressive State.
Victor also congratulated the initiative and effort made by the secretariat that is directly involved and responsible for making the event a reality in line with the division’s aim to recruit 10,000 members.
“We will ensure that our ‘people engagement’ campaign will continue and be strengthened to ensure that the ideals and objectives of our party are implemented and achieved successfully,” he said.
Tambunan Gagasan Rakyat Division so far has 6,000 members, said Victor.
