Kota Kinabalu: An elderly woman has visited the Penampang police headquarters to personally thank district police chief Supt Sammy Newton for rescuing her during a recent flood.

Penampang police posted on Facebook about the visit. .

It was previously reported that 68-year-old Tsen Kin Lin was trapped in a vehicle during the flood.

She reportedly said on that day that she had been travelling from Keningau and the weather conditions were poor, causing their vehicle to become stuck in the flood.

Tsen said she was very scared and that her legs were too weak to move.

“So I called the Penampang police station, and thankfully they arrived quickly. At that time, I did not know that the officer who carried me was the Penampang district police chief,” she said then.

Previously, a clip of the police chief piggybacking her through the flood gained widespread attention and praise online.
