Rape: Dad and half-brother get jail and rotan

SANDAKAN: A 46-year-old foreigner was jailed 15 years and 10 lashes of the cane by the Sessions Court here for raping his 15-year-old daughter.
The victim’s 24-year-old half-brother was also jailed 15 years and ordered to be caned 10 times by the same court for committing similar offence.

The father and the half-brother, both house builders, pleaded guilty before Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal committing the offence between Dec 2023 and July 9 this year; and between August 2023 and in June 2024, respectively at a house in an estate in Telupid.
Earlier, the court heard from the prosecution that the father threatened to beat the victim if she told anyone about the matter.
In July 11, this year, the victim was taken by her mother to a clinic in Telupid for a pregnancy test because the victim had not had her period for a long time.
The doctor confirmed that the victim was five months pregnant and a police report was lodged.

Both men were charged under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code.
The court ordered the men to be referred to the Immigration Department to be deported after serving their sentence.
