Trees pose risk to road users
The tree in question.
KUNAK: Some Gamal trees (protective trees) planted on the edge of the concrete road near the Christian cemetery in Kg Simpang Empat near here are at the risk of falling at any time.

With only the trunks, branches and twigs of the trees remaining, motorists, motorcyclists and pedestrians who often use concrete roads in the area, are reminded to be more vigilant especially during rain or strong winds.

“The tree is at risk of falling at any time as there was a time when branches from the ‘dead’ tree fell on the surface of the road,” said a driver, recently.

The route is used every day by residents of Kg Simpang Empat.

This event coincides with its proposed listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad ("Bursa Securities"), scheduled for 30 April 2025.
Meanwhile, the Executive Officer of the Kunak District Council (MDKNK), Mohd Nazri Pintal, when contacted said the route is not under the jurisdiction of the local authority (PBT).

However, he said the council can help to prune or cut down the tree by working together with the villagers.

Uncertain weather conditions in recent times have caused several incidents of fallen trees to be reported in other districts.
