DR Jeffrey said any attempt to revisit MA63 must be done with the aim of restructuring the federation of Malaysia in which the Borneo States are empowered to make decisions on their own according to their uniqueness and needs free from roadblocks by federal civil servants sitting in Putrajaya.

Third speaker former SLS President Roger Chin recommended five key areas of constitutional change for Sabah on Financial Autonomy for better financial control, Immigration Control to enhance policies for local needs like the Sabah MM2H programme, Judicial Independence for a separate judicial system for impartiality as there is currently no Sabah judge serving on the Court of Appeal, Education Policy to have full control over the educational system, and Environment Management for greater authority over resources.

Earlier the Chairmen of TSI Datuk John Teneki Nuek and Sabar head Datuk Zainie Abdul Aucasa delivered their speeches calling for unity between Sarawak and Sabah to forge a better Malaysia by working together, setting aside differences, and presenting a collective unified stance on claiming for state rights and entitlements.

“The leaders of Sabah and Sarawak must make a common stand. Today’s symposium is more than just a meeting; it is a platform for dialogue, for sharing dreams and aspirations, and for mapping out a future that aligns with the progress witnessed around the world in the 21st century.

“This symposium is a catalyst for that change, a stepping stone towards shared prosperity and development. We are honoured to have with us today a line-up of distinguished speakers and panellists. Their expertise and insights will undoubtedly enrich our discussions and provide valuable perspectives on the future of the Borneo States.

Let us seize this opportunity to voice our inspirations, share our dreams, and work collaboratively towards a future where the people of Borneo States can stand proud, united, and equal on both the national and international stages.

“Let us turn today’s sparks into a fire that spreads seeds of unity and shared progress for all,” said Zainie.
