PENAMPANG: Police here conducted a large-scale Integrated Crime Prevention Operation focused on drugs over the weekend.
“The operation, Op Tapis Khas Narkotik, targeted several locations across Penampang and Putatan,” said Penampang Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton, Sunday.

Deputy Penampang District Police Chief, DSP Erwansyah Abdul Basir, oversaw the operation which involved 38 police officers from various units within the Penampang police headquarters.
The operation was coordinated by ASP Mohd Amirrudin Arshad, Head of the Penampang District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division.
During the two-day operation, law enforcement officers inspected 56 individuals in a series of raids on business premises and accommodations.
Police also dismantled a site suspected of being a drug den.

The authorities also arrested a 28-year-old local found in possession of five transparent plastic packets containing crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine, weighing 111gm with estimated street value of RM16,650.
Initial urine tests on the suspect returned positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

Police also apprehended four men and one woman for six offenses related to drugs.
Sammy reminded the public to avoid involvement in drugs and encouraged citizens to continue being the eyes and ears of the police by providing information to combat drug-related issues.
He reaffirmed Penampang police commitment to eradicating drug abuse, particularly in Penampang and Putatan.
