SEVERAL Malaysian students in Lille, France, went to support their compatriots during their badminton training in the nearby Aire-sur-la-Lys for the Olympic Games.
Regional newspaper
La Voix du Nord interviewed the six university students.
Among them, Danish told the newspaper that they got the place to watch the training thanks to a friend who works at the embassy.
“Badminton players are like stars in Malaysia because it is a very popular sport.
"We were introduced to and played badminton at a young age at school,” he said.
La Voix du Nord also saw the badminton stars greeting the Malaysian university students during training downtime.

When approached by
Daily Express, Danish said almost all the Malaysian badminton players joining the 2024 Olympics were there.
“I was ‘starstruck’ like I was smiling throughout when the organisers said we could meet them,” he said.
In the report by
La Voix du Nord, we can also see a good impression in the eyes of the media outlet as they praised Danish’s firm grasp of the French language.
“In the Aire-sur-la-Lys regional sports complex, it was difficult to miss the two Malaysian flags.
“The six friends personalised a T-shirt in the colours of their country with Paris 2024,” it wrote.
