Armed Forces clinch overall title

Kota Kinabalu: The Armed Forces captured the overall title in the President Cup Boxing Championship held at the Damai Multi-Purpose Hall last weekend.
They won five golds, three silvers and two bronzes to top the medal tally followed by Tambunan with three golds, one silver and three bronzes and in third place were Keningau with two golds.
ADVERTISEMENT A total of 13 teams took part in the five-day competition and the closing ceremony was officiated by Malaysia Boxing Federation president Datuk Mohd Iruan Zulkefli.
He said in his speech that he hoped to see the continuation of the tournament as it serves well as a platform to uncover raw talents and at the same time, strengthen the boxing community.
He also called on the Youth and Sports Ministry and the Sabah Sports Council to continue working with Sabah Boxing Association under the leadership of Datuk Orlando Harumal in the development of the sport in the State.
Meanwhile, Orlando expressed his gratitude to Iruan for his presence and also thanked all those involved in the success of the tournament.
