Outlet entertainment caretaker fined

Kota Kinabalu: An outlet entertainment caretaker was fined RM3,000 or jailed three months by the Magistrate’s Court here Tuesday for operating an entertainment outlet beyond the permitted time.
Avegee Yusen, 29, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to committing the offence at New Delux KTV, on the fourth floor of the Asia City Complex here, at 2.40 am, on March 5, this year.

The charge stated that Avegee had operated the premises beyond the stipulated time of 2am as stated in the licence issued to the premises.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Azizi Hamil informed the court that a police team raided the place following a tip-off and found it still operating with loud music with customers inside.
Investigations revealed that the premises breached the condition of the licence issued by the City Hall for operating the business beyond the permitted time as the premises was only allowed to operate until 2am.

In another case, two people were fined for engaging in a gambling session.
Self-employed Soni Ekim, 40, was ordered by Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to pay a fine of RM1,800 or two months in jail for purchasing three illegal lottery tickets on July 15, this year, at 4.10pm, at Inanam New Township.

Bariah Zaman, 24, was fined RM1,000 or one month in jail by Magistrate Stephaine for engaging in an online gambling session in public at 2.46pm, on July 26, at a café in Universiti Plaza.
Soni was charged under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953 which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to six months, while Bariah was charged under Section 7(2) of the same Act, which also carries the same penalty.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old labourer was jailed seven months for having a stolen smartphone.
Mohammad Pathil Ali admitted before Magistrate Lovely to having a stolen Samsung Galaxy A50 belonging to Panaligan Rodelio on June 28, this year, at 3pm, at the car park of Block C, Putatan Platinum Apartment, Putatan.
The charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to five years or fine or both, on conviction.
The court heard from Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Al-Hakim Abdul Razak that the handphone was among properties stolen from a premises which was broken into on June 26, the same year.
Pathil was ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence.
