PAPAR: Four individuals, including two women, were detained and more than 100gm of drugs were seized following series of raids carried out in three locations in Papar district.
District Police Chief Supt Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka (pic) said the raids were carried out three consecutive days by a team from the Papar Narcotics Crime Investigation Department.
He said a 31-year-old local man believed involved in drug abuse and distribution was arrested in the first operation in an abandoned warehouse at Kampung Madang Kinarut on July 17.
The team also confiscated 31.84gm of syabu in the 10.30am operation. The suspect tested positive for drugs, he said.
“On July 18, a 31-year-old Filipino with IMM13 was detained at a house in Kampung Somboi, Kinarut. The team also seized 50.67gm of drugs.
“Two women, aged 67 and 69, were arrested at a hut by the roadside of Kinarut Settlement Scheme. Some 39gm of drugs were also confiscated from the suspects,” he said.
Kamaruddin said all the suspects were detained under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for further investigations.
He reassured that the Papar police would maintain their resilience and commitment in the authority’s efforts against drugs.
He urged the public to play their roles in channeling information to the police for any criminal activities near their respective areas.
