Two habitual addicts jailed

They were charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952 read with Section 39C(1)(b) of the same Act, which provides for a jail term between five years and seven years and whipping of not more than three strokes of the cane.
SANDAKAN: Two men, who has two conviction records each, for taking dangerous drugs, were sentenced to five years’ jail for taking the drugs the third time.
Jenny Hamid, 51, and Md Nazri Johaini, 22, pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal to consuming Amphetamine and Methamphetamine on March 19 and May 7, respectively.
ADVERTISEMENT The charges against them also stated that both men had two conviction records for similar offence.
The court also ordered Nazri to be caned once while Jenny was sparred the whip.

In the same court, a 22-year-old man was jailed five years for burglary.

Charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code, he was arrested on the same day.
