88 students in Ranau attend programme

RANAU: A total of 88 students, including a teacher (Coordinating Teacher of Malaysia Ku Club) attended the Jiwa Madani@Kelab MalaysiaKu Programme in Ranau which was held at Damai Eco Ranch Lohan Ranau, recently.
The face-to-face programme involved the cooperation of strategic partners from the State Election Office by giving a briefing on voter education delivered by Ebur Sabtar and a voting demonstration by Sabinus Yuntong.
ADVERTISEMENT Earlier, AADO Jeffarison Solingkin representing the Ranau District Officer, Tinus Manggam, said this kind of programme was good for the younger generation.
“It would help students understand the voting process in the democratic system practiced by our government,” he said.
Jeffarison also advice the students to continue to strive to progress in the field of study regardless of the subject to become the pride of the family and become an important asset to the country.
The representative of the Ranau District Information Officer, Kamaruddin Abidin said, the programme was is in line with the objectives of the Jiwa Madani@Kelab Malaysia Ku Programme which is to provide further explanation and understanding regarding the election process in Malaysia in addition to providing early exposure and awareness of the responsibilities as a voter.
ADVERTISEMENT “Apart from that, Jiwa Madani@Kelab MalaysiaKu Program can also produce voters who are democratically literate, mature and choose wisely in determining the future of the country,” he said.
Kamaruddin also explained that the function of the Malaysia Ku Club is a strategic partnership between the Malaysian Information Department (Japen) and the Malaysian Ministry of Education (KPM) as one of the students’ co-curricular activities.

According to the Coordinating Teacher of Kelab MalaysiaKu from SMK Mat Salleh Ranau, Hung Hsien Yang, the programme was beneficial and an opportunity for students to learn about the democratic system in the country.
“Parliamentary democracy is in the students’ learning at school and by participating in this programme and the demonstration held by the Election Commission (EC), the students understand better because they do the actual voting methods,” he said.
He hopes that the programme will continue in the future.
For one of the students, Nurizzahyati Azirah Mathew from SMK Ranau, she was excited about the activities.
Apart from the national quiz and briefing from the EC, she also expressed her excitement by doing actual voting activities according to the steps set by the EC.
For Mohamad Azfar Aiman Mohd Zainnul Ariffin from SMK Kundasang said that the activities carried out throughout the programme provided an unforgettable experience as well as being able to feel the atmosphere of the actual voting day.
In addition, Cassie Iswell Bailon said: “Even though I haven’t voted yet, this is something I need to know and I’m grateful because this programme has given me a new knowledge,” he said.
The Jiwa Madani@Kelab MalaysiaKu programme in involves four schools-SMK Kundasang, SMK Mat Salleh Ranau, SMK Ranau and SMK Lohan.
