SANDAKAN: Residents of a house near Mile 1 1/2 near Chi Hwa Kindergarten were shocked by the presence of a three-metre long python underneath the floorboards on Thursday morning.
The occupants of the house then called the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station for help at about 6.29am.
Its Chief, Severinus Sainkui, said immediately after arriving at the location, the team caught the snake with a catcher and released it in a forest far from residential areas.
He said the operation ended at 6.47am after making sure there was no more danger.
Meanwhile in Beluran, a lorry was reported to be 60 per cent destroyed in an incident that happened on Jalan KM85, Tol Juta Pan Borneo, Jalan Sapi Nangoh on Thursday.
Beluran Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Edoen Macheal, said they received a call about the incident at 10.10am via the MERS 999 line and immediately sent seven personnel to the location about 80km away.
He said the fire had also been extinguished by the truck driver using water in the truck’s storage tank before the arrival of the fire brigade.
No operation was carried out by the fire brigade who only took information at the scene of the incident.
He said operations ended at 11.30 am with no casualties.
