Kota Kinabalu: ITF Sabah Taekwon-Do Association represented by 32 exponents from two of its affiliates captured 13 golds, 21 silvers and 31 bronzes at the ITF Sarawak Taekwon-Do Borneo Open Championship 2024 held at CityOne Megamall in Kuching recently.
Kelab Taekwon-Do ITF Wira Papar with 25 athletes contributed 11 golds with three from Nur Suhfi Adawiyah Jeffery Zain of SK Surati Papar, who was also voted the best girl in the school category.

Other gold medal winners were Muhammad Danish Wera @ Azlan (SMK Takis) with two, and one each from Maziah Sapri (SK Suratir), Nur Adriana Sofiya Fon Chou Hui (SK Surati), Iskandar Putra Zulkarnaen (SK Surati), Erisya Rasyiqah Mohd Ridhwan (SMK Benoni), Nur Ernelya Syakilla Azizudin (SRITI An-Nawawi) and Muhamad Danial Wera @ Azlan (SMK Takis).
The two other golds were delivered by Mohd Raffie Mui Mohd Ruslan (SK Kepayan) and Muhammad Arifin Malakalu Khumaini (SK Kepayan) from the seven-member ITF Kota Kinabalu team.
Kelab Taekwon-Do ITF Wira Papar president Wera @ Azlan Ali was delighted with the achievement of the club’s athletes.
“They have displayed good discipline and delivered good performances throughout the competition to win medals for the state. Hopefully, with the experience they learnt, the athletes will be more successful in future and much bigger competitions,” he said.
A total of 235 athletes from 17 clubs took part in the tournament organised by the Sarawak ITF State Taekwon-Do Association.
